| TITLE : Formation of Catholic Doctors Guild in Cambodia |
TEXT : Dear All, We had a very fruitful mission to Cambodia recently. It has been an objective of many of us to help establish a Catholic Doctors Guild in Cambodia. Unfortunately at this moment there are no Cambodian Catholic doctor (I have checked with many sources). Fortunately we met up with Fr Omer Giraldo a Columbian priest who runs the Catholic Social Communications centre. He was able to round up 6 Catholic medical students. The most senior is in her 5th year of studies. They were very enthusiastic and realise the need of forming an association. We had a long discussion and the decision was to form an informal association comprising of the students and a couple of Catholic dcotors working in Cambodia initially. Fr Omer will be the spiritual director of this group. We will need to nourish and support this fledging association. As a first step please include Fr Omer in your emails and newsletter. If any of you happen to be going to Phnom Penh please get in touch with him. There is a particular need to help form these students in the field of bioethics. Maybe Michael Shanahan or Ian Snodgrass can assist in this area. God bless, John
